Today we are talking about the colour PINK. Why I painted my Front Door Pink!
Thought of as precious and girly, pink has a hard time proving itself seriously as a colour contender when it comes to styling my home. However, lately I am seeing it everywhere and in truth it makes me happy after all pink means in our minds sweet, nice, playful, cute, romantic, charming, feminine, and tenderness, and for me it means bubble gum, flowers, babies, little girls (and boys), cotton candy, and sweetness. It’s used as the symbolic color of the movement to support breast cancer research, and we think of pink as an innocent, cheerful color. But be warned it can go wrong and end up looking like a lolly shop entrance…
Is pink Colour good for a front door?
Pink can make the entrance to you home feel playful, feminine or warm. You front door give you an opportunity to do something different and fun, you can paint your front door a color that doesn’t have to necessarily extend to the rest of your house. Here is your opportunity to do something fun and bold, like painting it pink!
What does a pink door mean?
You can imagine that the people behind that beautiful pink painted door would be hopeless romantics, affection and nurturing with cheerful youthfulness and full of fun.! But the reality is that it’s about making our home OURS and filling it with what makes us happy. Not what someone has on instagram in their picture perfect home. Fearless and fun, apparently the person (aka me) who dares to paint their door pink loves making statements. For us it means when we come home we feel settled, instantly happy walling through the door – even with teenagers with the aircon on full as you enter….
Time to get painting the fun part
Apply two – three coats of exterior paint as its longer lasting and more hard wearing than interior paint. For the best finish, use a roller for the main surface area and interior edge and a brush for any decorative elements like the panels and motifs on our door. Allow a minimum of two hours drying time between each coat. Leave the door open while you do it.
Happy days are here again
Time to enjoy your new front door and all it brings. Always a talking point for guests but more importantly always putting a smile on my face as I come home. I love nothing better than to style my home even in my down time.
